A Nevis man was captured Thursday noon following a nearly hour-long foot chase east of Akeley.

The suspect, 39, had two active warrants out for him, according to a public records database, the last warrant issued by Hubbard County District Judge Paul Rasmussen last month.

Officers surrounded a wooded area a few miles east of Akeley. The suspect was captured by K-9 officer Oakley and his handler, Sgt. Dan Kruchowski, said Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes.

The dog bit the suspect, who was treated at the scene by an ambulance crew before being taken to jail.

Numerous Hubbard County officers were involved in the pursuit, along with State Patrol officers, a DNR conservation officer and others who responded to the call just after 11 a.m.
