Thelma A. Hillig, 90, of Detroit Lakes, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 1, 2007.
Thelma Adele Christenson was born to Andrew and Anna J. (Bakken) Christenson on Sept. 5, 1916 in Landa, N.D. She grew up on a farm and attended a rural school, then graduated from Bottineau High School in 1934.
Thelma married the love of her life, Glenn Hillig, on March 1, 1950 at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, N.D. The couple resided in Fargo, where Thelma worked as a bookkeeper at JC Penney's. She retired in 1978, and at that time Glenn and Thelma purchased Meadow Lake Campground, which they owned and managed for 12 years.
Thelma was a member of First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, the VFW in West Fargo and the Eagles Auxiliary in Detroit Lakes. She enjoyed her time with her family, tending to her rose gardens and making sure she looked her best for every occasion.

She will be remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 57 years, Glenn, along with their son, Charles (Terrie) Hillig of Denver, Colo.; two grandsons, two granddaughters and one great grandson as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and three brothers, Melbourne, Marvin and Donald.
Visitation was scheduled to be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at First Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes.
The David-Donehower Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
