One person is in critical condition at a Fargo hospital and two others were injured Sunday afternoon in a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 94.

Two people, who were outside of their vehicles, were struck by other vehicles on westbound I-94 near Dalton, about 13 miles southeast of Fergus Falls.

One of the individuals hit is listed in critical condition at a Fargo hospital, while the other had non-life threatening injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

After the initial collision, another vehicle swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian there and struck the guard rail. A girl was ejected from that vehicle and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Road conditions at the time were very icy, with light snow and adequate visibility being reported, according to the state patrol.

Ottertail County Sheriff's Department, Dalton and Ashby, Minn., fire and rescue services and Ringdahl ambulance service assisted in responding to the incident.

Several other crashes and rollovers were reported on Sunday afternoon on Minnesota roadways, due to the poor road conditions, the patrol said.

The incident remains under investigation.
