WADENA -- Authorities are preparing criminal charges against an Osakis man after he allegedly led them on a chase that involved a car crash and a State Patrol helicopter.
Around 2:35 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, a Todd County sheriff's deputy was attempting to stop a speeding Jeep Grand Cherokee on Todd County Road 65, west of County Road 1, when the Jeep rolled and landed on its top. The driver, Shane Schlosser, fled the scene on foot, the TCSO said. Two uninjured passengers were briefly detained by deputies while the search for Schlosser started in -22 degree weather.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Long Prairie and Osakis Fire and Rescue personnel used off-road vehicles to search for more than two hours. A patrol helicopter was used to assist in the search when information was received that Schlosser was safe and uninjured.
