Two Northwest Minnesota companies formally announced formation of a limited liability company late last month.

Triangle Agronomy Services of Lake Park and West Central Ag Services of Ulen have combined their enterprises.

The new arrangement officially began operations under the new name Triangle Ag, LLC, April 1.

The 50/50 venture was approved by the respective boards of directors the week of March 13.

West Central Ag board chair Duane Brendemuhl, Moorhead, said producer board members of both organizations have long recognized the value each brings to their customers.

"Through this venture, we will continue to provide exceptional knowledge, products and services to our existing customers, and look forward to offering solutions and value to all area ag producers," stated Brendemuhl.

The joint venture combines the crop nutrient, crop protection, seed and agronomy services, and producer financing and producer insurance interests of Triangle and West Central.

"Both companies are cooperative-based; the value of combining these agronomy operations is that we can better utilize both plant and equipment assets and people," said West Central Ag general manager Jesse McCollum.

McCollum will be the chief executive officer of the new entity, and remains West Central general manager.

Wes Roll, currently general manager of Triangle Agronomy, has been named chief operating officer of Triangle Ag, LLC.

"The ag supply chain is changing quickly and dramatically," explained Roll. "These two companies are both financially successful and have experienced growth the last several years. However, the future will be a lot brighter for our producers if we work together."

Over 100 people are employed by both operations on a full-time and seasonal basis.

Triangle Agronomy is owned by five parent cooperatives: Mahnomen Farmers Union Oil, Perley Community Co-op, Hawley Co-op Elevator, Ada-Beltrami Co-op and Community Co-ops of Lake Park.
