Two Detroit Lakes men have been charged with felony theft of property for what was allegedly a prank.
Christian Alexander Aldrich, 19, of 207 Laura Ave., No. 104, and Shane Martin Sannes, 19, of 211 Laura Ave., No. 102, will each make their first court appearance on Tuesday, Nov. 30, in front of District Court Judge Peter Irvine.
The charges stemmed from a Nov. 3 incident in which a blue wheelchair/scooter was found among the trees in the parking lot of M State College in Detroit Lakes; the scooter had been reported stolen on Oct. 31.
Tire marks found at the scene where the scooter was dropped off matched those of a black Ford pickup found in the parking lot by investigators; the truck belonged to Aldrich, who while being questioned, allegedly described the theft as a "stupid Halloween prank."
