Two hurt when deer bounces off vehicle and through windshield of oncoming car

Two Battle Lake residents were injured in a two-vehicle collision with a deer Saturday morning at the junction of Highway 108 and Otter Tail County Road 41 North.

Two Battle Lake residents were injured in a two-vehicle collision with a deer Saturday morning at the junction of Highway 108 and Otter Tail County Road 41 North.

Ronald V. Hanson, 68 and Elizabeth M. Hanson, 66, both of Battle Lake suffered non life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol. They were driving a 2008 GMC Acadia.

Two Fargo residents in a 2006 Kia Amanti were also involved in the incident. Richard W. Stenerson, 57 and Wanda K. Stenerson, 55, suffered no apparent injuries, according to the State Patrol.

The Stenersons were eastbound on Highway 108 when their vehicle struck a deer that jumped out of the south ditch. The deer flew into the path of the Hansons' vehicle, which was westbound, smashing through the windshield and injuring the Hansons.

The accident was reported at 10:22 a.m. on dry two-lane blacktop. The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
