Two killed in collision in southwest Minnesota

FULDA, Minn. -- Two people are dead after a broadside crash Sunday afternoon in southwest Minnesota.

Kristen Boynton, 24, of Perry, Ga., was the passenger in a 2005 Chevy Impala driven by Charles Goode, 24, of Lewisville, N.C. Boynton was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene at the intersection of Murray County 3 and U.S. 59, north of Fulda.

Also killed was Kerry Schultz, 34, of Worthington. Schultz was a passenger in a 2009 Toyota RAV4 driven by David Schulz, 38, of Worthington. Schultz was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbag did deploy.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Goode was westbound on Murray County 3 and Schulz southbound on U.S. 59 when their vehicles collided. The crash was reported at 3:23 p.m.

The two drivers sustained serious injuries and both were transported to North Memorial in Robbinsdale.

Two children in the Schulz vehicle, Jayden VanVickle, 12, and Jared VanVickle, 10, both of Worthington, received non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, S.D. Both boys were wearing seatbelts.
