A 51-year-old Rochert woman and a 1-year-old baby boy were transported to Essentia Health St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes following a Monday morning accident.
The driver, Alicia Mary Kemper, was driving a Dodge Durango northbound on County Road 21 when she hit the gravel shoulder, pulled back onto the road and lost control, according to the Becker County Sheriff's Office.
Kemper then went off the road into the ditch and hit a tree. She suffered lacerations and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The 1-year-old passenger suffered a cut to the forehead, according to authorities. He was identified as Easton Andrew Kemper.
Sheriff Tim Gordon said excessive speed in combination with treacherous road conditions were a factor in the accident that was reported at 7:41 a.m. Monday.
Four other drivers were involved in weather-related accidents on Becker County roads this weekend. No injuries were reported, however.
