Minnesota USDA-Farm Service Agency (FSA) State Executive Director Linda Hennen announced that some crop acreage reporting dates have been changed to reduce confusion and eventually be the same as those established for crop insurance.
This change applies to all forage crops, regardless of crop insurance coverage.
Producers that have perennial forage crops must file a 2013 acreage certification by November 15. Due to the timing of this change for the 2013 crop year, late-file fees and associated spot checks will be waived for these crops to accommodate producers that come in after November 15 through July 15.
"FSA and the USDA-Risk Management Agency (RMA) have been working to make crop acreage reporting dates consistent for all farm and insurance programs," SED Hennen stated.
"It is important for producers of forage crops in Minnesota to be aware of this change," added Hennen.
