The Board of Managers of the Buffalo-Red River Water-shed District (BRRWD) spent approximately three hours planning for upcoming construction projects at their Feb. 25 meeting, held in Barnesville.
The Environmental Assess-ment Worksheet for the Oakport Flood Mitigation project was signed. The office noted that another buyout was completed on Feb. 25. BRRWD representatives testified at a House Committee Hearing on Feb. 19, regarding Rep. Lanning's bill for $10 million in project funding. A Technical Committee meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 19 at the Moorhead Police Depart-ment. A meeting with the land-owners along Broadway will be held at 7 p.m. March 25 in the Oakport Town Hall. A landowner informational meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 3 in the Dilworth Community Center.
A meeting was held on Feb. 15 with representatives from the DNR and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) regarding the Manston Slough project. The office has received several more comments regarding that meeting from Kevin Brennan, Fergus Falls Wetland Management District. An engineering review will be needed to answer their questions.
The USFWS/DNR would like to meet again in the near future. The office is working on preparing the easements and exhibits.
The next meeting board is set for 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, in the Barnesville office.
