Along with Callaway and Ogema, Waubun will be celebrating 100 years this summer.

July 13-15, Waubun is hosting a 100-year celebration and the fifth all-school reunion for the Waubun-Ogema-White Earth School District.

Each day of the three-day weekend is packed full of activities for everyone.

Friday, July 13, includes old-time style and fashion exhibits and other historical exhibits, school tours, golf scrambler, welcome meal at the school and an Old Timers Dance in the Waubun Community Center, with music by The Auctioneers.

Continuing on with the festivities, Saturday will include some of the same features as Friday with the exhibits, and also a collector tractor and car show, flea market and crafts in the park, softball tournaments and a parade.

And that's all before noon.

That afternoon there will be a beanbag tournament, air games, bingo, traditional American Indian dance demonstrations at Pappy's, wrestling reunion and a street dance with music by Billy Dee and The Crystals to end the night.

To end the weekend, Sunday will include a brunch at Pappy's, followed by a worship service in the park.

The city of Waubun was established as the Soo Line Railroad laid tracks northward to Canada. The town site became a terminus for area loggers to move their lumber and eventually a site for the movement of grain from area farmers.

Also this summer, Callaway is celebrating 100 years June 15-16, and Ogema is Aug. 24-26.
