A Detroit Lakes woman will make her first appearance March 29 in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of financial transaction card fraud.
Chaneia Lynn Coney, 33, of 204 Willow St. West, Detroit Lakes, is accused of stealing a credit card from someone at the Frazee Care Center, then using the card to make $174 in purchases at the Frazee Family Foods store on Dec. 18, and almost $500 in purchases at Walmart in Detroit Lakes on Dec. 19.
She also allegedly attempted to use the card twice more at Walmart on Dec. 19, but the transactions, totaling over $240, were denied.
Coney was identified by an administrator at the Care Center, using video footage obtained from Walmart when the card was being used. She was an employee at the Care Center at the time the incident occurred, and worked in an area where she had access to the victim on a daily basis.
