An Ogema woman made her first appearance Tuesday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of illegal voting.
Kyla Mae VanPelt, 28, of 206 Eagle Drive, Ogema, is accused of voting in the Nov. 4, 2008 state election in White Earth Township, despite being on probation for a felony charge of first degree driving while intoxicated, which made her ineligible to vote under state law.
VanPelt was released on her own recognizance Tuesday, pending her next court appearance at a Dec. 6 omnibus hearing, before Judge Peter Irvine.
