Becker County has recorded its first death due to COVID-19. The person was in the 80- to 89-year-old age range, according to the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Update website. No other information about the person was immediately available on Tuesday, July 28.

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Becker County has doubled in less than three weeks following the busy July 4 holiday weekend.

Since the pandemic began, there were 57 positive COVID-19 tests taken by Becker County residents as of July 9, according to Public Health Supervisor Kristin Bausman.

By July 13, that number had increased to 68 cases, and the number now sits at 114 cases as of Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 Update website.

Becker County Public Health estimates that 15 of those cases are still in their isolation period, Bausman said.
