October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Essentia Health is reminding women to complete or schedule their yearly mammograms.

Essentia Health provides high-quality mammography by experts who help make the experience as comfortable as possible. Technicians explain the imaging process every step of the way, answer questions and help patients feel relaxed.

Routine screening mammograms can help providers detect breast cancer before the arrival of symptoms. Diagnostic mammograms help identify cancer after noticeable warning signs, such as a breast lump.

When breast cancer is caught early, it’s easier to treat. That’s why Essentia Health recommends women with an average risk of developing breast cancer get a yearly mammogram beginning at age 40.
