Positive COVID case at Laker Prep in DL

Staff and families who were in close contact with the COVID-positive child were identified and notified, and have been advised to stay home and away from other people.

Laker Prep Preschool and Early Childhood Center in Detroit Lakes alerted parents on Sunday, Oct. 11 of a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in a child at the school.

Laker Prep was notified of the case by the Minnesota Department of Health. Exposure dates were Oct. 5 and 6.

In response, Laker Prep has closed the room that had any close contact with the child, while the rest of the programming remains open.

Staff and families who were in close contact with the child have been identified and notified, and have been advised to stay home and away from other people. Those who were not notified are asked to watch for signs and symptoms of the illness but do not need to stay at home unless symptoms develop.

The risk of exposure for other people who were present in the building during the exposure dates is considered to be no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community.
