DL man gets nearly 10 years for criminal sexual conduct
A former Frazee man has been sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison on criminal sexual conduct charges.
Christopher Lynn Kuntz, 35, of Detroit Lakes was sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The original charge of felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct was reduced in a plea agreement.
Other felony charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and attempted first-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on April 2, 2017, a Frazee police officer talked to a girl about a possible sex crime that allegedly occurred several years earlier, when she was under age 13 and babysitting for Kuntz. He went to her house on one occasion to ask her to babysit, found her in her bedroom, and lay down in bed with her, pulling down her shorts and underwear and molesting her.
One of the charges stems from a year earlier, while she and others were playing games at Kuntz' house, he and others gave her alcohol. She fell asleep on a couch and woke up to find Kuntz molesting her.
Kuntz appeared Oct. 15 before District Judge Jay Carlson, who sentenced him to 117 months in prison at St. Cloud and ordered him to pay $4,052 in restitution, $140 in court fees and a $50 fine, with restitution to be paid first. He must register as a predatory sexual offender.
