Frazee woman gets prison for check forgery
Nicole Marie Blackburde, 29, of Frazee has been sentenced to prison for her role in cashing a forged check in Detroit Lakes.
She was charged in Becker County District Court with felony check forgery.
A second felony charge and a gross misdemeanor charge of check forgery were dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records, on May 10 she cashed a $200 fraudulent check at Midwest Bank inside the Detroit Lakes Walmart. A second $200 check was allegedly passed at the same location by another woman. Both women allegedly gave half the money to a Detroit Lakes man who found the woman's checkbook while walking outside. The victim's name was on both checks.
On Dec. 26, District Judge Jay Carlson sentenced Blackburde to a year and a day in prison at Shakopee. She was fined $50 plus $140 in court fees and $400 in restitution, to be taken from her prison wages.
