Frazee man charged with felony assault
Angel Ochoc Ortega, 21, of Frazee has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree assault, felony threats of violence, and two misdemeanor counts of domestic assault.
According to court records, on Jan. 11 a Becker County sheriff's deputy was called to a residence in rural Becker County on the report of a domestic assault. Ortega and his girlfriend had allegedly been fighting. The woman had blood on her person and injuries to her legs, head and wrist.
She said that Ortega had broken her cell phone and struck her, and after they went back inside the house they share, he allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened to kill her. He denied using the knife to threaten the woman, but the deputy found a large kitchen knife in the snow near the residence.
On Jan. 14, Ortega appeared before Becker County District Judge Mark Hansen. who set cash bail at $2,000 or bond at $20,000, with standard conditions, or bond at $60,000 without any conditions for release.
