Fern Adell Bruhn was born August 19, 1935, in Callaway, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Idella (Herfindahl) Rindy. She passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
She grew up in the Callaway area and moved to Detroit Lakes when she was 13. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1953 and continued her education atDakotaBusiness Collegein Fargo, ND.
On November 10, 1957, Fern wasunitedin marriage to DonaldDuaneBruhn at Richwood Lutheran Church. Theyinitiallymade their home inVergas, MN,but later moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where they have lived for the last 58 years. Fern worked for Lutheran Services in Fargo, ND, and as a bookkeeper for local retail stores and M.O. Erickson Law Officeover the years, but spent the last 35 years of her career at St. Mary's Hospital and nursing home inphysical therapy services. She took great pride in her job and enjoyed working withallthe residents. Fernalsoenjoyed canning, crossstitch, gardening,and fishing, and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.
She is survived by her husband: Donald Bruhn of Detroit Lakes; children: Rocky (Donna) Bruhn of Detroit Lakes; Kimberly (Greg) Baumler of West Fargo, North Dakota; grandchildren: Amber (Chace) Conley of Oxbow, North Dakota; Anthony (Kalli) Bruhn of Oakes, North Dakota; Taylor Baumler, Kacie Baumler, and Alexandra Baumler of West Fargo, North Dakota;great-grandchildren: JettsonConleyand Bentley Bruhn, and many nieces and nephews.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents: George and Idella Rindy; a daughter Cynthia in infancy; sister: Dora Eilertson.
Funeral service will be held at Bakke Lutheran Church onThursday, May 17,2018,at11:00 amwith visitation 2-hours prior to service.
