Lenora Roper

Lenora (Casey) Muriel Roper was born November 9, 1934 in Brenton, Alberta, Canada. She was the daughter of William Case and Edith (Hartman) Case. She passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020, with her granddaughters by her side at Emmanuel Nursing Home, under Hospice Care in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
She grew up and attended school in Jackson, MN graduating with the class of 1952. Lenora continued her education at Delyle’s Academy in Fairmont, MN. She was united in marriage to Charles Axel Roper on January 27th, 1954. To this union, four children were born. They made their home near Detroit Lakes, MN.
Lenora was the owner and operator of Florence’s Beauty Shop in Lake Park, MN. She also owned and operated the apartment building that was attached to her hair salon.
Lenora had a huge fruit and vegetable garden and enjoyed canning, tending to her multiple flower beds, and spending time at their home on Lake Sallie. She also loved to entertain family and friends, having multiple sets of dishes to serve 16 people that coincided with the season.
She is survived by her children: Charles (Sheryl) Roper and Karen (Kevin) McDonald; grandchildren: Elissa Roper, Ashley (John) Drewes, Ryan (Radhika) McDonald, and Nic Vigesaa; and great granddaughter: Tessa Drewes.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, William and Edith Case; husband: Charles Roper, son: David Roper; daughter: Linda Roper; and a great grandson, Bodhi.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 7pm Thursday, March 5 at David-Donehower Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11am Friday, March 6 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit Lakes.
