Ronald K. Kohler age 85 of Kauai, Hawaii, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN died March 30, 2020.
Ronald Kenneth Kohler was born July 31, 1934 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Conrad and Lillian Kohler. He grew up and attended school in Detroit Lakes. He then served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He married Evonne Olson on May 7, 1954 and together they had three children. They divorced in 1970. In April of 1978, he married Janice Christensen. Ron worked at the Detroit Lakes Post Office for thirty-five years. He also worked at the Furniture Post and Ness Granite Works in Detroit Lakes. Following his retirement from the post office, he and Janice moved to Lakewood, Colorado for where they lived for eighteen years. They moved to Arnold, California for five years and then to Hawaii.
Ron was a life member of the VFW and past commander of the Cooties. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, and all animals. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; one son, Michael (Cheryl) Kohler, of Fargo, ND; one daughter, Lynn (Joy) Christensen, of Kauai, Hawaii; five grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Douglas Kohler and Pamela Kohler; two sisters; two brothers; and his parents.
