Marilyn I. Jernberg

Marilyn Irene Jernberg of Detroit Lakes, MN passed away on January 15,2021, at Sanford hospital in Fargo, ND.

Marilyn was born in Devils Lake, ND to Rev. Harlan and Irene (Wrolstad) Peterson. She attended School in Edmore, ND and graduated high school in Cass Lake, MN.

She married Robert Martin Jernberg and lived in Cass Lake and Bemidji while attending college. In 1965 they moved to Hibbing, MN and then to Moorhead, MN in 1967. Marilyn worked for St. Luke’s hospital in Fargo (now Sanford) as a ward clerk and later in patient education. She retired in 1994. In 2003 she and her husband Bob moved to Detroit Lakes, MN. Marilyn loved and was dedicated to the Lord and enjoyed many favorite hymns and watching the Gaither TV programs. Marilyn truly enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband to many places. Favorite destinations were Itasca Park, Hawaii, Orlando, Las Vegas, Scottsdale and Myrtle Beach. She loved musical performances, sporting events and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Robert Jernberg, and three daughters Marcia (Mike) Kadrie of Owatonna, MN , Karen Driscoll of Fargo, ND, Julie Jernberg of Venice, FL, Son Brian Jernberg of Moorhead, MN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Brittney (Matthew) Sellars, Caitlyn Driscoll, Jordan Driscoll, Matthew Kadrie, Jessica (Jeff) Hublit, and Molly Dickleman in addition to six great grandchildren; Zakariah, Dominic, Ryann, Kenley, Corbyn and Zoey; and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Harlan and Irene Peterson and sisters Shirley (Paul) Owen and Joanne (Don) Wolf.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Miracle Network at Sanford Fargo, First Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes, or Christ the King Lutheran Church of Moorhead.
