Denise Marie Erickson

Denise Marie (Nelson) Erickson, 88, of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Twin Valley Assisted Living, Twin Valley, MN.

Denise was born on May 9, 1933, to Maynard and Tilla (Teigen) Nelson, at home in Cormorant Township, MN. She attended District 10 Cormorant Township Country School until the 8th grade. She lived on the family farm and was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes. She was united in marriage to Arnold Erickson at First Lutheran Church in Audubon, MN, and they moved to Moorhead, MN. After Arnold’s passing in 2007, Denise moved to Lake Park, MN, to be closer to her family. She later moved into Lincoln Park Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Denise enjoyed taking care of children and babysitting for relatives. She loved to crochet rugs and take occasional trips to the casino. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

Denise is survived by her siblings, Jessie Ullrich, Clayton Nelson, Connie (Max) Baer, Karen (Curtis) Hanson, and John (Patty) Nelson; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold; parents, Maynard and Tilla; and siblings, Marjorie Johnson, Maxine Grani, Jeanette Biewer, Lyle Nelson, and RuDella Wermager.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 9th, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. Burial will be at Eksjo Lutheran Church Cemetery following the service.
