Gerald Derstine

Gerald Derstine, 93, of Bradenton, FL, stepped peacefully into glory on Feb. 12, 2022. Serving more than 70 years in ministry, he was founder of Christian Retreat Conference Center, Bradenton, and Strawberry Lake Christian Retreat, Ogema, MN. A pioneer in the Charismatic Renewal, Gerald traveled worldwide preaching the Gospel and has left a legacy that will continue to impact millions.

Born in Souderton, PA, he lived near Strawberry Lake in the early 50s before moving to Florida. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Willis & Naomi Derstine, and two brothers, Willis and Durrell.  Beulah, his late wife of 67 years, passed in 2016. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, four children, Joanne, Philip, Timothy and Stephen; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life was held Mar. 27 at Christian Retreat, Bradenton. Interment will be May 26 at 11 AM at the Strawberry Lake Mennonite Church Cemetery.
