Joyce Holcomb Bengtson

Joyce was born on May 28, 1923 on a farm near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to John and Gladys Leland. She was raised in a rural setting during the Great Depression. In 1942 she married Lyle Holcomb while he was in training to become a medic in the army during WW II. Joyce was proud that she for the worked in the war effort making uniforms for the U.S. Army. After the war they resided in Minnesota, eventually moving to Concord, California. There they raised their five children.

Joyce loved to travel and was a creative artist who enjoyed painting. Many photos of her doting on numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren illustrated another of her interests. In 1997 she married Aaron Bengtson. They spent time travelling and dividing their time between Concord and Detroit Lakes.

Joyce is survived by her brother Don Leland and sister Lois Walstrom. She is also survived by son Gary Holcomb (Nancy), daughters DeLayne Capshaw (Bill), Kathy Darrow (Scott), Myra Holcomb and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceasing her were her parents, husbands and daughter Kristi Gates.

Joyce lived a long and active life and will be greatly missed by friends and her loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 27, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette, California. The event will be live streamed and recorded for future viewing. Link available at www.oakmontmortuary.com.
