Robert H. Sherbrooke

Robert H. Sherbrooke, age 93 of Glenwood, died Sunday, September 06, 2020 at home. An outdoor Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Bob LaPlante will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 12th in the Lake Ida Cemetery in Cormorant Township, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair as outdoor seating will not be provided.

Robert “Bud” Henry Sherbrooke, the second of three children of Edward and Alvina (Peterson) Sherbrooke was born June 6, 1927 in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm near Cormorant Village. He graduated from Audubon High School in 1944. Robert entered the United States Army in 1950 he served his country in Germany during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.

On August 26, 1954, Robert was united in marriage to Annie Biewer at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead. The couple made their home in Cormorant Village and were blessed with four children. Bud and Annie owned and operated Sherbrooke Trucking. They worked together running the successful business until retirement in 1990. In retirement, Bud was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who needed it. They continued to live in Cormorant Village until 2010 when they moved to Glenwood to be close to family. Bud and Annie shared 60 years of marriage before Annie died on December 14, 2014.

Bud was a member of the Men’s Group at St. Mary’s of the Lakes and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed fishing, painting wooden lawn ornaments, building rocking horses for all of his children and grandchildren, and going to his grandchildren’s events. He especially loved spending time with his family who were very important to him. Bud and Annie’s home was described as the one with the beautiful flower beds and garden. He will be remembered for his dedication to his wife, Annie whom he took care of at home for many years. He was known for his homemade Christmas candy. He would share his caramels and peanut brittle with family and friends alike. Anyone who was lucky enough to be a recipient of this gift would be looking forward to the next holiday season to receive more. 

Robert is survived by his children: Randy (Cheryl) Sherbrooke of Eden Prairie, Donna (Donnie) Ziemann of Anoka, Pat (Alan) Bryce of Glenwood and Vicki Johnson-Sherbrooke of Aitkin; grandchildren: Chris (Beth), Joe (Lacy), and Jacob (Jenna) Bryce, Valerie (Ryan) Petersen, Chad and Natalie Sherbrooke and Jenna and Justine Johnson; 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Adeline Sherbrooke of Cormorant; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie; granddaughter, Jean Ziemann; sister Marion Lage and brother, William Sherbrooke.

Directions to Lake Ida Cemetery are: By Cormorant Lutheran Church take West Lake Ida Lane south, then west on 115th Street, cemetery is approx. 1 mile.

Arrangements are with Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home of Glenwood.
