Letter: More public input needed on sign issue

In the Planning Commission debate on billboards and 'motion' signs, I see quite a few comments from business owners, but not very many from the citizens of Detroit Lakes who do business with these establishments.

In the Planning Commission debate on billboards and 'motion' signs, I see quite a few comments from business owners, but not very many from the citizens of Detroit Lakes who do business with these establishments.

I don't live in Detroit Lakes but I do most of my shopping there, and I personally find the 'motion' signs with their bright lights to not only be distracting but also to be somewhat ugly. I think for the Planning Commission, in order to get a proper 'slant' on this subject, needs to do a bit more talking to the public and getting more opinions from them. -- Scott Peterson, Cormorant
