Former congressman Mick Mulvaney who is now the head of the White House Office of Management and Budget and the interim head of the Financial Protection Bureau is quoted as making the following comments to the American Bankers Association conference in Washington last week: "We had a hierarchy in my office in Congress. If you're a lobbyist who never gave us money, I didn't talk to you. If you're a lobbyist who gave us money, I might talk to you."
It seems he was telling them that access to him came at a price. If you didn't pay you didn't play. This seems like the very definition of corruption. The very definition of the swamp. Why did Trump appoint this man to such an important position?
If you combine "Pay for Play" with the United States Supreme Court decision "Citizens United" decided by the five Republican justices that allow unlimited amounts of money to be spent buying our congressmen, you can expect a lot of breaks for the richest among us.
Consider the recently passed tax cuts which mostly favor the richest among us. The tax cuts for the middle class are scheduled to go away in the 2020s. They are not scheduled to go away for the rich.-Robert Peterson, Henning
