As members of The Damien Society, we are often thanked for our Mitten Tree Project, but the true gratitude needs to be shared with the forces of our community that make this project possible. This is the 51st year of the Mitten Tree Project in the Lakes Area and there were over 1,100 donated items.

Thank you to Detroit Lakes Newspapers, KDLM Radio and TV 3 for the publicity of the Damien Mitten Tree project.

Thank you to the tree sponsors: Bell State Bank, Bremer Bank, First Security Bank, Lake Agassiz Regional Library, La Barista, Midwest Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Central Market, DL Newspapers, Essentia Health, Lakeshirts, Sanford Clinic, Holiday Inn and the DL Breakfast Rotary Club, DL Community and Cultural Center, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Rossman School.

Most importantly, thank you to the community members and organizations that actually put the mittens, hats and scarves on the trees.

A special thanks to the Methodist Church Fiber and Faith Group, the DL Library Knitting and Crochet Club, the Essentia Health Retired Nurses, the DLCCC Engage Program, Lakes Area Quilters, and the staff of Sanford Clinic who received a donation of yarn from a deceased co-worker's family, and knit beautiful mittens in her memory.
