Letter: Background checks for all?

To the editor:

Many of us read the front page of Sunday’s, Oct. 25, Detroit Lakes Tribune.

The headline read “County Board candidate was fined for illegal dumping, burning”

In this article a background check was done on all five Becker County Board Candidates, this is fine.

But what many of us would like to know is this:

Did the individual that called the DL Tribune to do a background check on the people running for county commission ask the DL Tribune to do a background check on the people running for city council or the school board?

Editor's note: Backgrounds checks were only run on the county commission candidates after receiving credible tips on the background of one of the candidates.
