Letter: Cheers to Detroit Lakes Public Utilities

To the editor:

Not so long ago, the City of Detroit Lakes Public Utilities offered patrons an opportunity in Bright Energy Choices.

Earlier, we had had a new choice of more environmentally-friendly renewables like wind, solar and hydroelectric.

Now, Missouri River Energy Services offers what they call "Certificates" on behalf of customers. This takes our contribution a step farther.

What this tells me is that our municipality is conscious of the needs of the environment, and, to the extent possible, seeks to make our utility as clean as possible.

Hats off to Detroit Lakes Public Utilities General manager Vernell Roberts and city energy specialist Bridget Penton.
