Mike McFeely feels bars and restaurants should be "dealt with accordingly" for trying to survive. I’m willing to bet he’s never had to make a payroll, carried a business loan or bet everything he owns on a small business.
McFeely raged against the businesses “picking and choosing which laws they’ll obey.” So how do you balance that with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi taking her mask off during a hair appointment, claiming she was setup? Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot justified her own behavior by saying: “I’m the public face of this city. I’m on national media and I’m out in the public eye.” California Gov. Gavin Newsom defied his own orders by dining in a restaurant few of us could afford to walk past let alone eat in. And the list goes on. But wait, these aren’t conservative business owners "picking and choosing which laws they’ll obey."
To quote McFeely yet again, “Those are the laws. If somebody breaks them, they should be held accountable.” How does that work exactly? The laws only apply to conservative business owners and not liberal politicians?
There were three days of riots, looting and arson in Minneapolis before Gov. Walz called in the National Guard to restore order. Now we pay for Walz’s ineptitude with Emergency Fund dollars.
Big box stores were allowed to stay open while the independent retailers were closed down.

Crime in the Twin Cities has gone up exponentially since those riots while in the outstate areas life goes on as usual. The COVID-19 infection rates in the metro areas far exceeds what nearly every state, including Minnesota, sees in the rural areas.
Frankly, Mike, a lot of rural Minnesotans are sick of being dictated to by a group of hypocritical, elitist politicians. A phone call to the MSP Airport informed me I could eat in at most of their restaurants alongside travelers from all over the world. Go online and you’ll find a list of upscale eateries open in the Twin Cities. If someone wants to sit down and eat in a local restaurant in northwest Minnesota, we have to go to Fargo. But a block away in Moorhead, sorry folks, way too dangerous. Ridiculous.
There’s a lot of reasons why folks are fed up. It’s not just a matter of economic survival but as you said Mike, ”The issue is fairness.”
