Thanks for the article about the Sen. Paul Wellstone airplane crash. What a tragedy! There is something about such tragedies that causes people, or at least me, to remember where you were when you heard the bad news, or in some cases, the good news.
In the case of the Wellstone crash, I was in Morris, Minn., at a main street restaurant waiting for Tim Pawlenty to speak at a campaign rally for his candidacy for governor.
When he arrived, he announced and told us of the tragedy and suspended his campaign and went back to the Twin Cities. I thought that showed great respect.
I hope and pray that we could show that kind of respect during the coming Election Day, and not tear down the candidate signs and destroy property. We are Americans, and have been known for our generosity and respect throughout the world. We should be that ‘beacon on the hill,’ as one president described America.
