To the editor:

A recent opinion column penned by Mr. Mike McFeely recently appearing in the Tribune demonstrates in just a few hundred words why we can't trust the leadership of our communities and nation to Democrats.

The writer makes numerous false claims in the piece, but I have only space at this time to address the most important. In snarky terms the writer says he has no idea what critical race theory is and claims that it is an invented issue. Any genuine curiosity about the subject will bring you to find that it is an agenda adapted from Marxism in which students are taught that they are either oppressed or the oppressor. The color of your skin is what determines which of these you are ; not the content of your character.

Marxism divides communities for the purposes of empowering the community organizers, and that is exactly the goal of CRT. This is also being pushed in corporate board rooms, throughout our government offices, and even the military . The National Education Association and Education Minnesota are on board, as is the Minnesota Department of Education, which is planning to introduce new education textbooks in schools using lesson plans like those developed by the "Black Lives Matter at School" coalition. This is where people are taught that law enforcement hates people who don't have white skin. These are the ideas that inspired looters and rioters to burn down parts of cities across the country and they won't stop until they burn yours too, whether it be literal or figuratively. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have his message of a colorblind society where you are judged by your character rather than your skin color called racist today by these people.

Mr. McFeely mentions that CRT is just a cultural wedge created by conservatives, but it is in fact a wedge used by liberals (they call themselves progressives now) to come between children and their parents. That, Mr. McFeely, is why citizens across the country are going to the school board meetings. They want to restore this nation to a freedom loving republic and save it from the Marxist cesspool of totalitarianism that it is heading for. Perhaps you would do better, Mr. McFeely, pay a little respect to the people who created this nation and upon whose shoulders you get your free ride from rather than try bringing it down to the ground to stomp on.

We Republicans will always offer a hand up to those who want to stand alongside us and preserve liberty. Won't you join us?
