Last Saturday morning, our son's breathing stopped along with a stopped heart at his home in Detroit Lakes.

Emergency 911 was called, and within a couple of minutes a Detroit Lakes police officer arrived, just before St. Mary's EMS.

They immediately applied CPR and an automated external defibrillator (AED) was used to restart the heart, along with a nebulizer to assist his breathing.

He was brought to Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital, then flown by medical helicopter to Essentia Health in Fargo. He was stabilized, treated and will be OK.

We would like to recognize those professionals who responded: Sgt. Robert Strand; Paramedic Austin Dixson; EMT Michelle Leegard and EMT Paige Omvig.
