Album release party on Aug. 20 includes three bands
Detroit Mountain secured a $200,000 commitment from the City of Detroit Lakes, to match funds for a legacy grant from the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission to expand their mountain bike and Nordic ski trails, during a regular meeting of the Detroit Lakes City Council on March 8.
“We've got plenty of snow, so that’s a good thing — we’ve got nice, good snow cover for folks, so when the days are nice, at least we have good conditions,” said General Manager Jeff Staley.
Head coach Jennifer Smith’s Detroit Mountain Alpine ski teams have found success across the state using team depth from a club that added 100 new members in its first five years.
The return of Detroit Mountain was full of nostalgia for locals who remember the former version, but one area junior skier is showing what bringing back one of Detroit Lakes’ vacationland mainstays is doing for the future of the sport here.
When the weather is just right, Detroit Mountain is the place to be for snow fun. That was the case last week, when warmer temperatures brought out the crowds.

Detroit Mountain is hosting its inaugural Gift of Giving campaign, according to a news release. The campaign is two weekends and benefits four different local nonprofits:
As long as winter is here anyway, might as well enjoy it.
After receiving money through the Legacy Grant and the City of Detroit Lakes, and digging in their own pockets, Detroit Mountain has enough funding to build a natural play area and more.
