Chamber of commerce, administration host staff event before school year starts
At the elementary level, students work to improve reading and math skills. The pupils also learn about theater arts, participate in physical activities, work on art projects, technology and more.
The George Simson Auditorium at Detroit Lakes Middle School will be hosting this year's one-act play competition for Subsection 8AA North on Thursday, Jan. 27, starting at 5 p.m. The public is welcome to come and cheer on their local thespians; there is no cost to attend.
All students through grade 9 will be allowed to return to school full-time starting next Monday, Feb. 8. Grades 10 through 12 will remain in the hybrid model.
Students and staff at Detroit Lakes Middle School celebrated Unity Day on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 21-22.

Detroit Lakes Middle School was the only school in the district to have in-person students on Monday. Both area elementary schools, Roosevelt and Rossman, begin in-person classes on Thursday. Detroit Lakes High School will be fully distance learning through next Friday.
