HALSTAD - The Waubun Bombers, No. 5 in Class 9-man, dropped 43 points on Norman County West to improve to 4-0 scoring in all four quarters in a 43-15 victory over the Panthers (1-3) to grab the top spot in the North Tri-County Conference standings Friday night.

Darius Woods-Steichen scored twice for the Bombers and found the end zone from both sides of the line of scrimmage.

Ryan Weber scored from three yards out in the first quarter to give Waubun a 7-0 lead. The Panthers' David Skari found paydirt from 64 yards out to even the score.

Waubun blew the game open scoring 19 unanswered points in the quarters buffering halftime.

Jordan Spaeth hit Max Pinske from nine yards out for a14-7 lead and Woods-Steichen scored the eventual game-winner on a 53-yard fumble return.

Dayton Mackey hit a 26-yard field goal to cap first half scoring and the Bombers led comfortably at the break 24-7.

Woods-Steichen opened third quarter scoring on a four-yard scoring run and Nick Syverson follwed that up with a two-yard touchdown run for a 36-7 lead.

Both teams traded fourth quarter passing scores.

Weber led all rushers with 124 yards on 20 carries and a score.

Spaeth ran for 89 yards on 15 rushes.

Woods-Steichen had seven carries for 34 yards and two touchdowns.

Waubun did their damage on the ground with 281 of their 356 total yards rushing.

The Bomber defense forced six fumbles. The Panthers gained 250 total yards, 164 on the ground.

Waubun is outscoring their opponents on average 36-7. 

The Bombers will defend their top five ranking next week at Fargodome against Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal (3-1) at 3:45 p.m. The Titans will enter the game coming off a 62-0 bombardment of Cass Lake-Bena. Norman County West and Cass Lake-Bena face off at Fargodome in an 11:15 a.m. game.
