The Waubun Bombers defeated Norman County West for the third time this season to advance to the second round of the Section 6A boys basketball playoffs.

Waubun broke open a close game at half to win 57-32.

The No. 8 seeded Panthers hung in the game trailing by only five at the break 24-19.

Top-seeded Waubun took care of business in the second half outscoring Norman County West 33-13 in the final 18 minutes led by 21 points from Jordan Spaeth.

Peyton Syverson added 10 points; Cole Thompson scored eight.

Ryan Olson was the lone Panther in double figures scoring 11 points.

Waubun (22-4) will face No. 4 Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal (17-10) Saturday, Feb. 28 1 p.m. at Concorida College.

The Titans got by No. 5 New York Mills 62-61 in Twin Valley to advance.

The Titans are one of four teams to defeat Waubun this season. They won in Twin Valley 54-36 Jan. 12. The teams split the season series. Waubun won at home 81-75 in overtime Feb. 13.
