Peterson debuts with 1,600 win at Early Bird

Seventh-grader Lily Peterson won in her varsity debut for the LP-A Raider Track and Field team as both boys and girls competed Tuesday at the Barnesville Early Bird Invitational.

Peterson won the 1,600m run and is currently the fifth fastest 1,600m seventh-grader in the state. She also got the wheels moving with a ninth place finish in the 800m.


The girls 4x100m team placed fifth and the 4x400m team finished sixth.

MacKenzie Ehlers finished 10th in the 200m and Kay Pederson placed 10th in the long jump.

Relay performances on the boys' side included third place finishes from the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x800m teams.

The 4x400m team capped the meet off with a sixth place finish.

Top individual performances included William James' success in the horizontal jumps with a third place finish in the long jump and sixth place in the triple jump.

Bailey Johnson placed fifth in the 800m.

Colby Hesby and Jacob Beaudine-Schlick recorded ninth and 10th place finishes in the 1600m, respectively, and Will Hannesson added an eighth place finish in the 400m.
