Hornet girls fourth, boys fifth at HOL Track

The Frazee girls placed fourth overall and the boys team fifth at the Heart O’ Lakes Conference track and field championships Tuesday in Barnesville.

The Hornet girls were led by a pair of freshman, each capturing a conference individual title in hurdles. Paige Ziegler won the 100m hurdles (16.08) and was the runner-up in the  triple jump (34-10). Jaryn Johannsen placed first in the 300m hurdles with a time of 49.56.

Perham won the girls title scoring 175 points, followed by Thief River Falls (109), Pelican Rapids (90) and Frazee (53) in a field of seven teams.

The Hornet boys scored 39 points for fifth place. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton defeated Perham 192-162 in a two-team battle for the HOL team title.

Vincent Helmers captured Frazee’s lone conference individual championship winning the shot put with a throw of 45-10.25.

Isaac Courneya finished in a tie for second with D-G-F’s Ryan Poehls in the high jump clearing five-feet, six-inches. Joby Giefer placed third in the 110m hurdles (16.58).
