Titans end Raiders’ baseball season

No. 2-seeded Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal defeated No. 7 Lake Park-Audubon 4-3 to advance to the Section 8A baseball quarterfinals Thursday.

LP-A scored all three of their runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead.

Mike Vohnoutka doubled to score C Wolf to tie the game and scored on an error at shortstop to take the lead. J Cigelske hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Marcus Dickelman-Stassen for the Raiders’ third run.

The Titans’ 9 scored unearned in the bottom of the third to get a run back.

11 hit a line drive double in the bottom of the fourth to bring home 10 and 8 with the eventual game-winning run.

The Raiders stranded the tying run at third base in the fifth and sixth innings before being retired in order in the seventh by reliever 9.

Dickelman-Stassen took the loss. He struck out seven and walked one. Three of the four Titans’ runs were earned.

11 earned the victory in five innings on the hill. He walked three, fanned five, and two of LPA’s runs were earned.

Vohnoutka was 3-4 with one RBI and a run scored to lead the Raiders.

11 led the Titan offense knocking in three runs and going 2-3 at the plate.

The Titans (14-5) will face BGMR (8-12) Tuesday, May 30 at 12:30 p.m. in Fertile. LP-A ends the season with a record of 6-14.
