Raider runners qualify for section track

The Raiders competed at the Sub-Section 8A Track and Field meet on Thursday, May 25 at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

Lily Peterson began her quest for a state berth with a time of 5:50.19 in the 1,600m, which was good for a fourth place finish and automatically qualified her for sections. She came back in the 3,200m and earned her first Sub-Section 8A title with a first place time of 12:20.28.

The 4x100m team of Brianne Huesman, MacKenzie Ehlers, Rachel Grande, and Ava Hemze placed eighth.

Bailey Johnson earned an individual berth to the Section 8A Meet with his sixth place finish in the 800m. The 4x800m team of Garrett Cossette, Bailey Johnson, Will Hannesson, and Nick Donovan earned a trip to the Section 8A meet with their third place finish.

The other relay teams also faired well. The 4x100m team of William James III, Shawn Skjold, Ryan Voge, Will Hannesson finished sixth. William James III, William Hannesson, Nick Donovan, and Ryan Voge placed fourth in the 4x200m. The 4x400m team ended the meet with an exciting race. Bailey Johnson, Nick Donovan, Garrett Cossette, and William James III missed out on a berth to the Section 8A meet by one spot with their fifth place finish.

Scoring for the Raiders were Sanden O'Connell with a seventh place finish in the 1,600m and the 3,200m, Shawn Skjold with a personal best long jump and seventh place finish, as well as William James III who finished his Raider career with a personal best jump of 18' 9.25" and eighth place finish in the long jump.  

Personal bests were recorded by Rachel Grande in the long jump and Jacob Beaudine-Schlick in the 1,600m, 3,200m, and discus.

The Section 8A Track and Field Meet will be held at Bagley High School on Saturday, June 3.
