Peterson was only bested by Jerzie Finstad of Thief River Falls winning in a time of 20:01.4. Peterson ran tight with the front-runner finishing four seconds back in 20:05.5.

Seventh graders Taytum Nelson and Thea Mattson made their varsity debuts with personal best times. Nelson also cracked the top 25 places with her performance.

The team finished fourth out of 28 teams.

Bagley hosts the Section 8A Cross Country Meet at the end of October, so many of the teams at the meet on Tuesday will return to compete for the two team spots that earn a berth to the state tournament at St. Olaf.

“The Lady Raiders still have some work to do, but made a statement with their performance yesterday,” head coach Laura Januszewski said.

The Raiders JV team (28) won their team race by 20 places over runners-up Wadena-Deer Creek (48).

“Good things to come for this young squad,” Januszewski said. “Breakout performances and personal bests were also recorded by Hailey Frohman, Lily Frohman, Maria Schauer, Beth Schauer, Grace Schauer, Izzy Olson, and Claudia DeBlieck.”

Maria Schauer, Frohman and Grace Schauer placed second through fourth.
