The Perham Yellowjackets handed Detroit Lakes its second straight loss capturing Tuesday night’s volleyball match in a lengthy fourth set recording the school’s first varsity victory in the new Perham gymnasium.

DL trailed 24-22 in the fourth and fought off five set points before Perham grabbed three straight to win the match 30-28.

Maren Daggett gave the Lakers set point with an ace to go up 27-26, but Perham’s Rachel Muir responded with a kill to tie the score. Both teams exchanged hitting errors to tie the score at 28. Perham went ahead scoring off a Laker block attempt and Stella Raser put the match away with a kill on Muir’s serve.

The Lakers got off to a strong start dominating the first set to a 25-13 victory.

Perham won crucial points at the end of set two to even the match 25-23 and took the third set 25-17.

Teeya Doppler led the Lakers with 21 kills and 10 digs. Anna Cihak also had a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs. Bre Price had 10 kills; Jocelyn Patnaude recorded nine.

Maren Daggett and Courtnee Ziegler had 29 and 20 set assists, respectively.

Detroit Lakes (1-2) plays at Frazee (1-1) Thursday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
