The Detroit Lakes swimming and diving team remained undefeated in three meets capturing the Crookston Invitational in the Lakers first meet on the road by a wide margin Thursday night in Crookston.
The Lakers scored 122 points, outscoring the remaining three teams. The host Pirates placed second with 25 points, Thief River Falls scored 24 and Warroad/Roseau/Greenbush/Middle River had 15.
DL swept first place in all 12 events for the second straight meet and including the opening five-race pentathlon to open the season have showcased the team’s depth placing first in every event so far this year.
Josi Retz, Syd Gulon, Jennifer Tracy and Lucy Steinke opened the meet with a 200-medley relay victory (2:11.86).
Gulon won the 200-free in 2:15.10 and the 100 backstroke in 1:10.96.
Lexi Gerdes was the 200 individual medley winner in 2:53.99.
Steinke swam 29.47 to win the 50-free.
Jackson Hegg and Lexi Yliniemi finished one-two in diving. Hegg scored 242.20; Yliniemi 209.60.
Kaitlyn Peterson swam 1:14.58 to win the 100 butterfly.
Tracy was the 100-free winner in 1:02.87 and took the 100 breaststroke in 1:20.59.
Faith Hamm placed first in the 400-free with a time of 5:07.68.
Tracy, Chelsy Johnson, Peterson and Steinke won the 200-free relay in 1:59.58.
In the meet’s finale, Johnson, Peterson and Hamm with Gulon at anchor took the 400-free relay in 4:26.98.
Finishing times reflect the short course meters at this particular meet.
DL continues a three-stop road trip at Park Rapids Saturday, Sept. 15 and in Moorhead Tuesday, Sept. 18 before returning home against Perham Tuesday, Sept. 25.
