Detroit Lakes and Fergus Falls traded four goals Saturday, Sept. 15 to finish in a two-all tie in overtime in a Section 8A north girls soccer matchup in Fergus Falls.

Emily Larson got Detroit Lakes on the board in the 23rd minute off an assist by Anna Jones scoring from beyond the 18-yard box for a 1-0 lead.

Fergus Falls answered when Ellie Anderson fed the ball to Piper Andrew who scored to tie the match.

The half ended knotted at one goal apiece.

Madison Bowers found Jones on the run with a nice pass and Jones buried her shot in the 57th minute to put DL up 2-1.

The Otters tied the match on a Mady Eklund corner kick to Jadyn McKeever, who scored the equalizer with a header with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Neither team scored in the two five-minute overtime periods.

The tie was the second straight stalemate for Detroit Lakes. The 4-1-2 Lakers host Crookston Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. DL defeated Crookston 4-0 in a weather-shortened game on Sept. 6. The Pirates (0-7-1) are still looking for their first victory this season.

DL is currently tied for second in the Lakes to Prairie Conference at 2-1-1 with East Grand Forks. Bemidji leads the standings at 5-0.

The Lakers are third in Section 8A North with a 4-1-1 mark. Bemidji is at 7-0; East Grand second with a 5-1-1 mark. Fergus Falls completes the top half of the section in fourth place at 3-2.
