Both Laker soccer teams picked up victories sweeping a doubleheader over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley/Cass Lake-Bena Monday, Sept. 24 in Walker.
The DL girls opened the twin bill with a 9-1 victory.
Ava Steinmetz score twice in the game and the Lakers led 4-0 at the break getting goals from Sidney Lundberg, Anna Jones and Karrigan Hallisey.
In the second half, Madison Bowers, Abby Larson, Grace VanOffelen and Emily Larson joined Steinmetz on the score sheet.
The Lakers improved to 7-2-2 overall. The Wolves remained winless at 0-9-1.
The DL boys team continued a unique streak of winning by shutout only. DL defeated Fergus Falls 1-0, Crookston 2-0, Hillcrest 4-0, Moorhead 1-0.
The Lakers picked up their fifth victory of the season 7-0 in the nightcap of the double dip with the Wolves to improve to 5-6 overall.
The Lakers built a 3-0 lead at the half on early goals from Cole Metelak, Daniel Rosza and Kobe Braukmann. Second half goals were scored by Rosza with his second, Alec Kulasingham, Lucas Schwan and Jackson Carlblom.
The boys host East Grand Forks (4-4) in a grudge match Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. The Lakers lost a tight 3-2 game on Green Wave turf Sept. 13.
